The Savage swimmers made a strong showing at the meet last night with a 2nd place finish against Raytown High, Summit Christian Academy, and Raytown South. These ladies stepped up to the challenge and personally took on new events.
Savage’s 200 Medley Relay with Paige Nold (Backstroke), Danica Rodriguez (Breaststroke), Mandy Lawson (Butterfly), and Mak Kurre (Freestyle) started the meet of strong with a 1st place finish and tenths of a second away from a state consideration cut!
Paige Nold, Abby Caraway, Grace Cook and Jacey Grider took on the longer event of the 200 Freestyle. Emily O’Neal swam to a 3rd place finish in the 200 IM.
Savannah blew away the competition in the 50 Free with a 1, 2, 3 finish! Mak Kurre’s time of :25.06 slotted her an automatic state cut! Danica Rodriquez and Mandy Lawson are just shy of the state consideration cut.
The domination continued into the 100 Free with Mak taking 1st, followed by teammate Mandy swimming to a 2nd place finish.
Two relay teams raced away in the 200 Freestyle relay. 3rd place team consisted of Grace Cook, Ainsley Blake, Jillian Cook, and Abby Caraway. 5th place team consisted of Taryn Reents, Klein Tanna, Jacey Grider, and Jade Dierenfeldt.
Paige Nold scored a 1st place finish in the 100 backstroke followed by teammates Grace Cook, Abby Caraway, and Jacey Grider.
Danica Rodriquez snatched up the 100 breaststroke with a 1st place finish by tenths of a second. She was followed by teammate Emily O’Neal in 3rd place and Jillian Cook in 4th place.
The meet wrapped up with a final win in the 400 Freestyle Relay consisting of Danica, Paige, Mandy, and Mak. Teammates Emily O’Neal, Tanna Klein, Jacey Grider, and Grace Cook had a strong performance with their relay.
Overall the girls had a great performance and all the hard work is paying off. It’s back to the grind and winter break training will continue the next few weeks. Next competition will be January 5th at MWSU.
