Girls Varsity Swimming · Savages off to a Good Start in 2021


The Lady Savages took on the new year with a meet on Tuesday against St. Joe Central, Park Hill South, and Summit Christian Academy.
Kurre started the meet with a first place finish in the 200 Freestyle. Teammates Caraway and G. Cook also challenged themselves in the longer 200 Freestyle event.
D. Rodriguez had a strong 5th place showing in the close race of the 50 Free. R. Reents and J. Cook were able to capture season best times in the 50 Free.
Four of our Savage swimmers, P. Nold, D. Rodriguez, J. Grider, and A. Blake took on the grueling 100 Butterfly.
The 200 Freestyle Relay of D. Rodriguez, P. Nold, M. Lawson, and M. Kurre excelled to a 2nd place finish touching out Park Hill South.
Kurre then quickly turned around to place first in the 100 Backstroke and coming with in tenths of a second to an automatic state cut. Teammate G. Cook swam a season best dropping a second in her 100 Back.
Next up was the 100 Breaststroke and J. Grider had a 5 second drop in her season best time! J. Cook came in with a 1 second drop!
The girls are back in the pool getting in the work and fine tuning their races to get ready for the next meet on Wednesday in Gladestone.
