Girls Varsity Swimming · Makenzie Kurre Makes Savannah Proud at State

Last Saturday, Makenzie Kurre represented Savannah in the Missouri Class 1 State Championships in St Peters, MO.  She competed in the 200 Freestyle where she was seeded 5th and in the 100 Freestyle where she was seeded 3rd.

Due to COVID, the meet was changed to eliminiate preliminary races.  It was a one-day finals only format with the top 24 in the state competing in each race.

In the 200 Freestyle, Makenzie swam a 1:53.72 which was enough to move her up two spots for a 3rd place finish!

In the 100 Freestyle, which Makenzie won last year, she swam a 52.35.  This swim resulted in a 2nd place finish by only .06 seconds!

Makenzie, only a Sophomore, now holds one gold, one silver, and two bronze state swimming medals – An insane accomplishment – Especially as high school swimming only breaks down into two classes for state competition.

Congratulations Makenzie on your AMAZING season!  We can’t wait to watch you again next year.
