Savannah High School vs Maryville R-2 High School
8 1

The Savannah boys played Maryville for the second time this season, but this time the stakes were higher as it was the official MEC conference match. Both teams came into the match undefeated in conference.

Some close doubles matches made it look like it would be a very tight contest, but strong singles play from the Savages secured the win 8-1.

Final match scores in doubles:

#1 Drew Collier/Matt Collier lost to Mitchell Meyers/Carson Kempf 6-8
#2 Cole Horton/Kaden Kennedy def Matt Goodridge/James DiStefano 8-1
#3 Evan Heftye/Connor Peek def Henry Swink/Kason Teale 8-6

In singles:

#1 Cole Horton def Goodridge 8-1
#2 Drew Collier def Meyers 8-3
#3 Matt Collier def Kempf 8-3
#4 Evan Heftye def Swink 8-1
#5 Connor Peek def 8-2
#6 Kaden Kennedy def DiStefano 8-5

The win locks up at least to share of the the MEC conference championship for the Savage Boys. They can lock up the outright championship on Thursday against Benton.

JV was also successful in Maryville, winning six matches while only dropping two.

The boys will compete in the MEC singles/doubles tournament tomorrow at Noyes Tennis Complex, pending the weather. The rain date is scheduled for this Friday.
